Overview
CM / Interior Renovations / 2120 SF / The scope of this project was to convert an existing auto-body classroom to a welding lab. The welding lab required all new electrical bus cabling systems, HVAC and plumbing, along with life safety upgrades. The new facility required us to cut into an adjacent class room to allow adequate room for the new welding equipment. There was a considerable amount of MEP work required to meet the needs of the welding lab. We were able to save time and money in the project by offering an alternative to the specified means of bringing electric service from an existing building next door. The specifications called for cutting and patching the colleges main entrance to allow electrical service for the new welding lab. We proposed to directional bore the new electrical lines, alleviating the need to cut out the main concrete entrance, and trying to match the older existing colored concrete. We not only saved time, we also alleviated the safety issues of having students and faculty walking around the construction. The directional bore approach benefited both the college and the contractor.
